A Bihar woman declared dead has been found alive with her lover in Punjab as her husband spends time in jail for his ‘murder’
Motihari: A shocking case has been reported in Motihari district, Bihar, where a woman, who was pronounced dead, was found alive with her lover in Punjab. At the same time, the woman’s husband was cooling his heels in jail for her “murder.”
The accused woman has been identified as Shanti Devi. She married Dinesh Ram, a resident of Laxmipur in 2016.
On April 19 this year, the woman fled with her lover to the Ludhiana of Punjab and started living with him. Subsequently, the woman’s family approached the police alleging dowry-related harassment and even claimed that Shanti Devi had been murdered by her husband.
Local police acted on the complaint and arrested Devi’s husband for murder and sent him to jail, according to a report in India Today.

Allegations of dowry-related harassment and murder
The woman’s father told police his daughter, who is married to Dinesh, has been missing since April 19. He also went to Shanti’s in-laws, but she was not found there.
Shanti’s father also alleged that last year his daughter was harassed by Dinesh’s family demanding Rs 50,000 in cash and a motorbike.
Woman found by police
The local Station House (SHO) agent doubted Shanti’s family theory and put the woman’s phone under surveillance. Police were shocked to find that the woman was not only alive but also partying with her lover in Jalandhar district of Punjab.
