Data history: India registers 168,063 cases, adds more than 1 million in last 10 days

India on Tuesday reported a net increase of 97,827 active coronavirus cases to bring its tally to 821,446. India’s share of active coronavirus cases worldwide now stands at 1.83% (a out of 55). The country is sixth among the countries most affected by active cases. On Monday, it added 168,063 cases to bring its total number of cases to 35,875,790 from 35,707,727, an increase of 0.47%. And, with 277 new deaths, its death toll from Covid-19 reached 484,213, or 1.35% of total confirmed infections.

With an additional 9,207,700 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine administered on Monday, the total number of vaccines in India has so far reached 1,528,970,294. The number of coronavirus cases recovered across India, meanwhile, has increased. reached 34,570,131 – or 96.36% of the total number of cases – with 69,959 new cured cases reported on Tuesday.

Now the sixth most affected country by active cases, third by deaths, second by total number of cases and recoveries, India has added 915,529 cases in the past 7 days.

India now accounts for 1.83% of all active cases worldwide (one in 55 active cases) and 8.78% of all deaths (one in 11 deaths).

India has so far administered 1,528,970,294 doses of the vaccine. This represents 4,261.84% of its total workload and 109.3% of its population.

Among the Indian states, the top 5 in terms of number of vaccines administered are Uttar Pradesh (210034190), Maharashtra (140275382), West Bengal (110487692), Madhya Pradesh (106234909) and Bihar (102732578).

Among states with more than 10 million inhabitants, the top 5 in number of vaccines per million inhabitants are Delhi (1490784), Gujarat (1485931), Jammu and Kashmir (1438896), Kerala (1410027) and Uttarakhand (1370391).

The number of active cases across India on Tuesday saw a net increase to 97,827, from 133,008 on Monday. The states and the United States saw the largest daily net increase in active cases in Tamil Nadu (11,432), West Bengal (11,083), Karnataka (10,546), Uttar Pradesh (7,972) and Rajasthan ( 5621).

With 69,959 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate stands at 96.36%, while the fatality rate remained unchanged at 1.35%.

The Indian states and TUs with the worst death rates today are Punjab (2.67%), Nagaland (2.18%) and Uttarakhand (2.11%). The rate among 13 people is higher than the national average.

New daily closed cases in India stand at 70,236 – 277 deaths and 69,959 recoveries. The share of deaths in the total number of closed cases amounts to 0.36%.

India’s 5-day moving average of the daily rate of addition to the total number of cases is 0.4%.

India’s doubling time for the total number of cases is 147.6 days and for deaths is 1,211.3 days.

Overall, five states with the largest 24-hour jump in the total number of cases are Maharashtra (33,470), West Bengal (19286), Delhi (19166), Tamil Nadu (13,990) and Karnataka ( 11698).

India carried out 1,579,928 coronavirus tests on Monday to bring the total number of tests carried out so far in the country to 693,155,280. The positive rate of the recorded test was 10.6%.

Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of people tested positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases -) are Dadra & Nagar Haveli- Daman & Diu (14.78%), Kerala (12.62%), Sikkim (11.38%), Goa (11.05%) and Maharashtra (9.63%).

Five states with the highest TPR in daily number of tests and added cases – are West Bengal (12.86%), Goa (9.11%), Maharashtra (8.53%), Chandigarh (6.8 %) and Delhi (4.88%).

Of the states and TUs with populations over 10 million, five that performed the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (1,758,614), J&K (1,432,378), Kerala (1,165,621), Punjab ( 1085588) and Karnataka (842267).

The five states most affected by the total number of cases are Maharashtra (6,953,514), Kerala (5,291,339), Karnataka (3,063,656), Tamil Nadu (2,814,276) and Andhra Pradesh (2,082,843).

Maharashtra, the worst-affected state overall, reported 44,388 new cases to bring its tally to 6,953,514.

Kerala, the second most affected state by the total tally, added 6,238 cases to bring its tally to 5,291,339.

Karnataka, the third worst-affected state, reported 12,000 cases to bring its tally to 3,063,656.

Tamil Nadu added 13,990 cases to bring its tally to 2,814,276.

Andhra Pradesh saw its number increase from 984 to 2,082,843.

West Bengal added 19,286 cases to bring its tally to 1,774,332.

Uttar Pradesh added 8,311 cases to bring its tally to 1,745,861.

Delhi added 19,166 cases to bring its tally to 1,568,896.
