New Delhi: The NIA on Wednesday raided several locations in Jammu and Kashmir to unearth terrorist groups that have spread fear in the region. In addition, Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was denied bail and subsequently moved the High Court to Bombay. Here are the headlines of the day:

Jammu and Kashmir: NIA raids underway in Baramulla, Srinagar and several other locations following killings of civilians

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday carried out several raids in Jammu and Kashmir to crack down on surface workers of terrorist groups in the valley. Raids were carried out in several places in Baramulla, Srinagar and other parts of the valley. The raids began after several civilians were killed by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir over the past few days. Earlier this month, the NIA raided 16 locations in the valley as part of massive action against OGWs. Read more

Special court denied bail, Aryan Khan moves Bombay High Court: Reports

The Bollywood star’s son, Shah Rukh Khan, Aryan Khan, was denied bail on Wednesday by a special court. Undeterred by the ordinance, Khan moved the High Court to Bombay. During the hearing, the court said that, according to the respondent (NCB), Khan was in contact with foreign nationals and his discussions on WhatsApp indicate that he “was engaged in drug-related activities”. BCN argued that if released on bail, influential people like Khan can falsify prosecution evidence. Read more

The Supreme Court on Wednesday suspended the government of Uttar Pradesh for the delay in recording witness statements before a judicial magistrate in the violence of Lakhimpur Kheri.
A bench led by Chief Justice NV Ramana called on the state government to overcome the impression that the state is dragging its feet on the matter. “We think you are dragging your feet. Please dispel this,” said the judiciary which also includes Judge Surya Kant and Judge Hima Kohli. Read more
