Checkbook holders of three public sector banks – Allahabad Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce and United Bank of India – are advised to apply for a new checkbook as their old existing checkbook will become invalid from October 1, 2021. This happens due to of the merger of Allahabad Bank into Indian Bank while Oriental Bank of Commerce and United Bank of India merged into Punjab National Bank (PNB).

The Bank of India has asked its clients of Bank of Allahabad to request a new Bank of India checkbook from its official Twitter account, citing: “Former clients of Bank of Allahabad can continue to enjoy a new checkbook. seamless banking experience with Indian Bank by ordering new checkbooks, as old ones will no longer be. be acceptable on October 1, 2021. “

Allahabad Bank customers can go through net banking, mobile banking or through a bank branch to get a new Indian Bank checkbook.

Likewise, the Punjab National Bank also asked its clients at the Oriental Bank of Commerce and the United Bank of India to request a new PNB passbook from its official Twitter account, citing: “The old eOBC check books and eUNI will be discontinued from 01-10-2021. Please replace your old eOBC and eUNI checkbook with a PNB checkbook with the updated IFSC and MICR PNB. Get your new checkbook at your branch or apply via ATM / IBS / PNB one. “

The PNB tweet added that all customers are urged to use the new PNB checkbook with updated IFSC and MICR only from now on to avoid any transactional inconvenience.

Apart from this, due to the Government of India (GoI) bank merger plan, Syndicate Bank was merged with Canara Bank while Corporation Bank and Andhra Bank were merged into Union Bank of India.
