SC Adjourns Loan Waiver Plea Hearing

NEW DELHI : The Supreme Court On Friday, the hearing was adjourned on a batch of petitions calling for relief from the six-month loan repayment moratorium announced during the pandemic. The court, however, ruled on a request from a borrower Gajendra Sharma who had expressed satisfaction with the measures taken by the Center to redress the grievances.

“The Union of India having taken specific measures in its circular of 23.10.2020, which was entered in the file and follow-up measures were also taken as a result, we have the present request with instructions to the respondents to ensure that all steps are taken to implement the decision dated 23.10.2020 of the Government of India, Ministry of Finance, so that the benefits envisaged by the Government of India extend to those for which the financial benefits have been envisaged and extended. All implementation requests are closed ”, reads the judgment.

The Supreme Court heard the arguments of the other pleas and demands at the end of the council. The SC has heard comments from a few petitioners and interveners on the case while adjourning the case until next week.
