The Himachal Pradesh government withheld several economic data in the 2021-22 budget tabled in the State Assembly on Saturday, opposition leader Mukesh Agnihtori said on Monday.

Starting the discussion on the budget, Agnihotri said the state government made no mention of existing debt and likely borrowing in 2021-2022 by the state government.

The opposition leader said the state debt burden has risen to Rs 61,000 crore and is expected to reach Rs 85,000 crore in the next fiscal year.

The current BJP government headed by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will become the government that will contract the highest loan of Rs 45,000 crore of its term, he added.

Agnihtori alleged that the state government was trying to divide the people according to caste and gender, ignoring the men and girls of the upper castes.

The state government announced a grant of 31,000 rupees to daughters of SC, ST and other backward classes of BPL families at the time of marriage under the Shagun regime. He also announced a social security pension of Rs 1,000 per month for women aged 65 to 69 under the Swaran Jayanti Nari Sambal Yojana regime.

The opposition leader criticized the state government for not announcing any budget relief for government employees of 2.25 lakh.

Agnihotri said no permanent employment will be provided by the state government in 2021-2022. It was stated in the budget that the state government would provide 30,000 jobs, but they are either on a contract basis with a small salary or on an outsourcing basis, he said. People say that the selection of 4,000 of them has already been finalized, Agnihotri added.

The Leader of the Opposition said: ‘Beware of God. Former Haryana CM is already in prison. ” Agnihotri said the government also did not announce a reduction in VAT on petroleum products to provide relief to the population. In addition, the subsidies on various items were also reduced from 1,200 crore rupees to 1,000 crore rupees, he added.
